Kenesaw Landis was Major League Baseball's first Commisioner. He was appointed following the
1919 "Black Sox Scandal" where 8 members of the Chicago White Sox were indicted for throwing the World Series.
The 8 men were acquitted, but Landis banned them from the game for life. He was said to have ruled Major League Baseball with
an "Iron fist," and helped to bring honor and dignity back to the Game of Baseball, following the scandal. He was later inducted
in Baseball's Hall of Fame.
